Arizona is one of the bigger states in The US, it is located in Southwest region and popularly known as Grand Canyon State. In the year 1912 it was recognised and declared as 48th state in the United States. Given its geographical location, the state has variety of climates, terrain and culture and it is also the home of Grand Canyon which makes it one of the popular tourist destinations in the country. Towards the western side of the state, it is surrounded by Nevada and California, the eastern part shares the border with New Mexico, and at the northeast region it is surrounded by Colorado state.
There are 5 regions in Arizona state which include Eastern, Northern, South Central, and Western Arizona. The eastern region has high desert lands and a few small cities/towns that are located at the border area. The northern part of the state has Grand Canyon which is also known as the “Arizona Strip”. This region is famous for its amazing deserts and beautiful forests. The South Central region has the largest port of entry into the state and also has beautiful desert land and some really amazing cities as well.
There are several top tier cities in the state such as Flagstaff that boast of Northern Arizona University Lumberjacks and it is also the gateway to the northern parts of the state. Other top cities in the region are Mesa, Phoenix, Prescott, Sedona, Scottsdale, Tempe, Tucson, Winslow, and Yuma. There are other cities as well, that we will mention in regional descriptions.
The most popular tourist places to visit in Arizona are White Mountains, Mystery Castle, Meteor Crater, Monument Valley, Mogollon Rim, Mount Humphries, Mystery Castle, Painted Desert, Navajo Nation, Mount Lemmon, and White Mountains. There are quite a few national parks in the state as well that include Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Petrified Forest National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, and the Saguaro National Park. They are all popular places to go if you are revelling through Arizona.
For outdoor recreation activities lovers there are 6 state parks — Homolovi Ruins State Park, Lake Havasu State Park, Picacho Peak State Park, Lyman Lake State Park, Kartchner Caverns State Park and the Roper Lake State Park. They give you plenty of options to explore if you are an outdoor enthusiasts. On the other side, Arizona also has 3 national forests where you can go to enjoy the wildlife adventures. They are Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest, Coronado National Forest and the Tonto National Forest.
Arizona is blessed with a variety of terrain and beautiful landscape that is spread over 113,909 square miles and it also include the water surface of Lake Powell, Lake Havasu, Lake Mead and the Colorado River as well. The state is known for its grand canyon that is located in the north and the Mogollon Rim which is a mountain region, and the Sonoran Desert located at the southern region of the state. Other amazing part of Arizona’s beautiful landscape is the Ponderosa Pine forest that is spread around the state starting from White Mountain region to San Francisco Peaks.
The reason why tourists prefer Arizona during the fall, spring and winter season is the mild climate. People really enjoy warm and low precipitation weather of Arizona because it is perfectly balanced for outdoor activities like wildlife sightseeing, kayaking, mountain biking, hiking and golf. On the other side during the winter months, people can also enjoy snow skiing in the mountain regions of the state.
Arizona is also one of those states where more than 20 native American tribes are present that contributes to culture and history of the state. All these tribes have their own government structure and laws that needs to be followed just like US government laws are followed. The easiest way to travel around the state and its tourist places is car or public transport.
